Games and sports are important kinds of physical activities, in which human beings perform specific kind of activities in accordance with the set rules and regulations of the games. Various officials are appointed to insure the safety of players, but still they get injured in one way or other.
Like games and sports, people indulged in various physical activities also have high probabilities of getting injured. Often it is not possible to arrange for some specialised or highly qualified physician at the time of occurrence of the accident, but injured person cannot be left without providing any kind of treatment.
In such kind of situation, the preliminary treatment which is being provided to the injured person is called First-Aid, main objective of which is to provide relief to the patient and to keep his condition under control till he cannot be brought to physician.
Emergency care given before Regular Medical Aid can be obtained. First aid is the provision of initial care for an illness or injury. It is usually performed by a no expert person to a sick or injured person until definitive medical treatment can be accessed.
Certain self- limiting illnesses or minor injuries may not require further medical care past the first aid intervention. It generally consists of a series of simple and in some cases, potentially life-saving techniques that an individual can be trained to perform with minimal equipment.
While first aid can also be performed on all animals, the term generally refers to care of human patients.
