England’s fleet was made up of about 197 ships and nearly 16,000 men, these men were mostly sailors rather than soldiers.Admiral Lord Howard of Effingham commanded the fleet and his squadron leaders were Francis Drake, John Hawkins and Martin Frobisher.Francis Drake and John Hawkins were ordered many times to raid Spanish villages and ships to acquire more riches.
