However these developments are now resulting as destroying nature and environment that now global is at crisis stage. Every year, destroying nature is being more critical and many scientists are warning to governments and organizations about global warming phenomena. Australia also developed economics and nation power because of Australian’s great nature resources. However over producing and consuming results critical nature destroying and affecting Australianenvironments. According to ‘Garnaut Climate Change Review’ (2006), Australia can be at dangerous level of their environment in very soon future.
However AGL Energy Ltd is an Australian listed public company that elaborate with both generation and electricity and gas for residential and commercial usage. With several recent news and reports state that AGL is resulting the destroying in environment such as air pollution and greenhouse gas impact etc. This report will present brief background of AGL Company and analysis of their impacting in air pollution and the government’s reaction and their responsible. Also this report will provide several solutions and recommendations. Background The Australian Gas Light Company was established in Sydney in 1837. AGL was the second biggest organization to list on the Sydney Stock Exchange.
The organization slowly expanded into power and various diverse areas. 25% claimed by AGL Energy, ActewAGL gives electricity power, natural gas, and media telecommunication administrations to business and residential clients in the Australian Capital Territory and south-east New South Wales. AGL Energy produces energy from control stations that utilizes thermal power, natural gas, wind control, hydroelectricity, solar energy, gas storage and coal crease gas sources. AGL guaranteed in August 2017 that it had more than 3.6 million private and business client accounts crosswise over New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Queensland. AGL entered the residential and commercial gas market in Western Australia in July 2017. It has huge investments in the supply of gas and electricity, and is Australia’s biggest private proprietor, administrator and engineer of sustainable power source. The probability of an environmental impact happening can be portrayed as far as its likelihood is concerned.
Overlaying this likelihood is the need to perceive that a level of uncertainty might be related with conceivable environmental impacts, especially amid the underlying risk evaluation process. Where there is scientific vulnerability, a careful approach will distinguish a more elevated amount of hazard giving a preservationist evaluation. Each identifiable effect can be allocated an event rating, between ‘rare’ through to ‘relatively certain’. In streamlining the conceivable effects with the end goal of a situation risk evaluation, a component of subjectivity should likewise be presented. An environmental risk evaluation of the Project was embraced to advise the Environmental Assessment process. This section plots the key discoveries from this appraisal as they identify with natural hazard, and points of interest the more extensive procedure used to complete the ecological hazard evaluation for the proposed Project as displayed in this Environmental Assessment. Issues that were raised by the key organization stakeholders were thought to be critical in helping to characterize the level of environmental hazard related with the project. The issues include: Air quality related issues, Greenhouse gas impacts, Traffic and transport related impacts, Surface and ground water impacts, Visual impacts, Commotion related impacts, Ecological impacts, As a result of climate change and increased climate variability in Australia, Australia likely to see more frequent and more extreme weather events including heatwaves, storms, cyclones and bushfires; a continued decline in rainfall in southern Australia, higher temperatures and decreases in water supplies.
Government regulations and their action ?The survey from Climate institute has reported that 77% of Australians believe climate change is happening and 90% believe the federal government has the responsibility on this issue Mayer(2016). Another report presents that Australia generates only about 1.5% of global emissions.
However, on a per person basis we are one of the world’s largest emitters of greenhouse gases. Our per capita CO2 emissions – around 27 tonnes of CO2-e per person – are nearly twice the OECD average, and more than four times the world average.Australian government is making bills to regulate organisations to reduce their destroying nature behavior with raised taxes and many strict regulations. As government effort, the Clean Energy Regulator is the government body responsible for administering legislation to reduce carbon emissions and increase the use of clean energy. The Clean Energy Regulator administers the Carbon Farming Initiative, as well as the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Scheme, the Carbon Pricing Mechanism Renewable Energy Target.
Recommendation solutions Around Australia, industries and people are taking action now to prepare for these impacts. Mainly there are two solutions as external and internal. External includes technical issues and regulations. Many engineering is developing new way to produce the energy without destroying nature.
For example wind based energy, filtering the gas emission and reducing the current factories or resource. For internal, the campaign. The campaign regards reducing the consume energy, use sustainability energy and any other alternatives. It has proven that Australian government’s water waste campaign resulted incredible outcome after their aggressive campaign. Therefore in this reporters highly recommend to operate aggressive public campaign.
(Example of Air pollution campaign from Pinterest) Government needs to create strong posters to awake all people to how air pollution is critical in their life and to next generation. Also place all posters in public area to easy to access. Also the air pollution issue (not only air pollution, includes all other environment issues) needs to be more publicity via media, debates or by educations. It is becoming more critical and critical, however this issue is not a top priority issue in our life. The reason is destroying nature does not around most of their life. Therefore the issue must be publicity to them more often. ConclusionAs global warming phenomena has been highlighted, Australia government is regulating the anti-environment activities.
